Spent last three days pulling spinners again. Of course I caught beautiful jacks the first two days. I let them go as I wanted a freshy to take home on the last day. On the last day I had hits but none stuck. Exciting though. At times I was afraid of hooking up as I was so close to the actual mouth of the river, and the best bite is when the tide is running out the strongest. Don't forget your pfd!
I paddled a total of what must have been many hours worth and never moved far from one place. One paddles to hold their place in the current as the river flows by underneath.
While waiting for good spinner tides I scoped out the perchers. They use giant pieces of tubeworm for huge redtails. These redtails are incredible looking and the perchers say great eating. Even the little specimens were fat.
I tried motor oil grubs and scored! The ocean conditions couldn't have been much better. Though I hooked some nice perch, none were the requisite 10 inch minimum. I can't wait to try that again.
I also met a guy in Requa that will take yaks upriver with a jetboat. He has yaks of his own, Hobies.
Time to slee...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

This is why God invented the anchor....  :smt003

Sounds like a good time.  I too, have heard that redtail perch are some of the best perch eating.

Mol,I like the way you share your knowledge.(anchor)leaving the person(and myself)to wonder?I knew that, but did not think of it?is that possible? :smt003

mako1,Thanks for the intel.and experience of River-Yakin(would an anchor do the job or hinder it?)

Mol-
You need to stay mobile, boats always moving around you, current running pretty fast, so the anchor would only hinder.
They'd laugh you off the river if you even tried.
Besides me, it was refreshing to see a couple of specialized rowing dories in the mix, and getting fish. It used to always be just motor boats holding in the current. The absence of motor noise was nice.
