Hey guys, this is albeemer, Allan in person,in Santa Rosa. I'm in the process of getting my Hobie pa-14 set up for some terrific fishing. I've never fished from a kayak before so I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you guys. I used to fish from a ski boat turned fishing boat and caught halibut in Tomales Bay to steelhead up at Lake Sonoma to wading in the Russian River as well as most rivers along the northern coast. I prefer not to fish for largemouth bass. There are just too many other species to feed my family with.
I will be starting out with Stripers in the Petaluma River. Any ideas for the best put-ins there? Thanks so much for being here for us newbys! I hope to see all of you guys on the water one day.

Glad you joined and know you will learn a lot from the guys here with lots of experience.

I have yet to fish from a kayak but have been going out and practicing and building strength on the water. I just recently took it out on the ocean after reading all the warnings and tips from the guys here.  I wanted to be able to do self recovery before I went on that adventure.  Still not sure how it will work if I have all my fishing gear in it when it tips over so I will have to try that after I figure out how to tether everything.

Hope to see you out on the water.

Well I didn't get out to Petaluma River. Had problems loading yak on truck so I bought a trailer. I just got one day at Spring Lake to play with the  Lowrance  and the feel of the yak. What an incredible boat it is for sure! :smt006

Welcome.

You can launch for free at the Sheraton Hotel in Petaluma.

You can also launch from Blackpoint, but there is a fee for parking there.

No worries.

I think there is also a launch by the restaurant/docks on Lakeville Hwy, but I've never been there.
