Patching a wheeleez wheel

Has anyone put patches on the inside of a wheeleez wheel to fix holes.  I tried the hot iron way and made it worse.  So before I spend the money on a new tire, I was wondering if you could patch it from the inside with a bicycle tire patch.

If you are talking about the Polyurethane Wheeleez, you can't get inside of them, as they are a sealed tire/tube kinda of thing. 

Try heating up the back of a spoon with a lighter/torch (NOT red hot though), melt some patch material with the back of the spoon and press against the hole in the wheel.  Reheat the spoon from the inside (so you don't burn the material on the back of the spoon.  Smooth out the fixed area until you are satisfied with results.

If you don't have Wheeleez patch material, contact them and see if they can send you some material.  My second pair of Wheeleez came with patch material. 

If the cut isn't too messed up you can follow the advise from the manufacturer.

I would guess that cyanoacrylate glue (instant glue) would work?

So did you end up melting a bigger hole?

Tire patches are made for butyl rubber, so I doubt the rubber cement would melt the polyurethane tire enough to ensure a good bond.

Yep, a soldering iron is something that should never touch my hands.  I can build wood stuff, but when it comes to do things like that, I am a 100% dork.  When I try to fix stuff, I usually break it even worse.  I'll watch that video tonight and see if I can fix it.  And of course I can not find that package of material that came with my wheeleez.

If you need help with the repair after tonight let me know. I can take a shot at repairing it for you if it is not too badly mangled.

Just a thought. Try some gorilla glue on a big tire patch and stick it on the outside. We don't use these things where they will wear down like a car tire. Gorilla glue sticks to everything I have used it on. Wood to plastic.

Hey Scott. I have some extra pieces from my wheeleez I'll mail to you. Its an easy fix. Don't put any other foreign substances on the tire or you have blown your opportunity to fix it right. Once you start introducing other materials that don't properly bond you are screwed. Fill the tire with air then put some water on it to see exactly where the leak is and how big. Mark it. Let the air all the way out. If it is just a pinhole its a piece of cake. You tie flies right? You can do this. Give me your address in a PM and Ill send some pieces to you tomorrow. Craig

The patch kit is in the mail Scott! It has the pieces and instructions with them.

I've learned something from this thread!

Be sure to lightly clean the area where the silicon RTV was with Alcohol. 

after reading this thread, the picture that came to mind was Wimpy, from old Popeye cartoons, driving an old jalopy car with balloon tires with a polka dot patch!
