sixmhz and I headed over with a couple spots in mind since I knew it was so flat but when we saw the conditions at bean hollow thought best not to look a gift horse in the mouth and we parked it and started unpacking.

Tim and his crew were there already. good to meet you guys!

good fishing again. real nice conditions, very relaxing fishing.

I fished 30-70, I think greg went out to 80+. we tried north of the beach a bit. structure is scattered.

2 cabs for me, both over 20 inches, one released. 20 inch vermillion. no lings, not even an under for me today.
no halibut.

also less blacks and blues because I decided to use up my squid, but still a lot on a megabait and white and gray deceiver teaser before they were retired. schools smaller and more scattered. kept a couple big blues and a gill hooked black. fumbled a couple nice blacks at the boat, couldn't decide whether to release and they decided for me.

some pretty big blues out there.

greg got a ling limit on a single drop. blue and brown 24 and 25 inches. also a brace of vermillion in his stringer. greg also had a "one that got away" scenario but got color on the big ling at least before it got off. I got rocked once by something good while using squid, and had to break off, the 40lb leader broke due to abrasion, did not lose my swivel, but my slido got cracked.

WAF meter still slightly positive, no need to take up residence in dog house just yet!

hope everybody had some fun today.

sound like another great day at Happy Hollow.

to tell the truth, I almost kept driving this morning to the Hollow, knowing the swell was down again.  Maybe monday morning.

In all we had a good day at the Hollow. It was great to meet you both, John and Greg. I wish the bite was a little better (guess we are spoiled) however, for bringing a first-timer out there the conditions couldn't be better. Some blues, blacks, gophers, chinas, coppers and one ling.  The drift was a little faster than I'm used to and anything less than 5oz was having trouble staying vertical. Lots of snags from scoping out too much. I did manage to get up one baby-butt, or at least I'm calling it a baby because it flip-flopped right out of the boat as soon as I had it on board. I'm pretty sure it was less than 22". I still have the itch for some butts (call it a butt itch) so I want to know the skinny on everything from HMB to SC.  :moon

First fish for the day was nice red, followed by a bunch of blacks a blues.  I was using a 5 oz megabait and a 4" tube jig about 18" up on the hoochie.  often hooking up with double blacks and once a double mackerel.  switched over to megabait and a 7" mackerel in place of the hoochie and instantly hooked up.  thought it must have been the biggest friggin fish for me yet.  saw color on not one but two legal lings on 1 string!  somehow managed to get them both on board without much trouble.  also had a mega ling on that came right up to the top from 50' but when saw me looking back at him turned and headed for the deep.  battle ensued for about 5 more minutes ending in a shaken hook, crap.  ended up with 2 lings, 2 reds and a blue.

Wow,

I hope my fishing reports start sounding like you guys someday. Where is Bean Hollow anyway?
