So the refi has gotten me  :smt013 haha and go figure I used to be a loan officer.  So had to get out and been having shatty luck lately.  Being that Clearlake is about 5 min from my house, i figured what the heck. There are a ton of bait fish in the lake. So i took out the cast net caught way too many in the first 2 throws. They were small and these ones are a pain to get out when they get hooked in the net.  They die so damn quick that i have my reservations. This was only the second time i have fished the lake with live bait.  So went out of Redbud and straight to.. . secret spot! haha.. just kidding out to the island.  Fished without weight and with two of them. They died right after the first cast!  :smt005

So I switched to a robo worm and got some love but didnt set any of them, must have been small.  Went over the "pipeline".  Definatly a good spot, but i just wanted to see the sunset on Konocti.  Fished a bit there, and i said f- it and went back to the island.  Dropped a rattle trap,  my favorite bass lure, and right around 8 or so the big guys started going crazy on the bait. Each one had its own territory and I hit 2 nice ones,  the first being 18 inches and the second right around 22.  Not sure on the weight but im guessing 5 lbs on the second? maybe more,  she was a hog!.  Im taking off my trebles though , i hate those things!  ..

Loch,

I am experiencing the same frustrating experience with my refi and I use to be a Sales manager for Chase. Not a fun experience. I plan to hit the water for some diving and fishing this weekend to relieve some stress.

Crazy , I transfered up from Santa Maria, to Santa Rosa,  im sure we know some people in common.   :smt002

Yeah id say the bite started right around sundown.  The hogs came out and the bait fish were jumpin and running, I did a few casts with my fly rod but wasnt patient with it.

Ill be back out tonight, bringing the camera this time!.  :smt003

I've caught a fair number of bass from Clear Lake in the 22" range. My guess is the 22" bass you caught weighed between 6 lbs and 8 lbs, depending on how fat it was. Most probably it weighed at least 7 lbs. Congratulations!

I've taken the treble hooks off of Rattletraps and replaced them with a single weedless hook suspended below the lure. The resulting lure was definitely snagless and still ran correctly, but I didn't fish with it long enough to catch anything with it. I attached the weedless hook with two split rings in front and then treaded the hook through a single split ring in the back. Anyway, that's one way to replace the treble hooks on a Rattletrap.

Nice, yeah i did it the "ghetto" way this time and just clipped the treble until there was one hook left!  :smt005

Thanks for the info on size and weight.  Both of these fish were of the football shape. I got the light rod out today so hope to make it more of a fight.  Cant say ill be droppin the robo as the trap is too much fun right now.
