Hi all!
I'm new to NCKA and am looking for a fish finder.
Currently a college student, so my budget is very limited since I just bought a yak + roof rack for my car.

My price range is about $200. Can anyone give insight on a FF? I will be fishing fresh and saltwater, so an all purpose FF with GPS what I'm looking for.

Also, if anyone or knows someone who is selling a FF, please let me know!

Any insight is very appreciated. Thanks guys!!  :smt006

There is usually someone selling one on here when they upgrade.

If you ever have questions on the Lowrance lineup, feel free to drop me a line.  They have a few models that fit your budget such as the Mark series by Lowrance.

Thanks Bill!
Whats your opinion on the Mark 4? Its black and white but I don't think that will bother me.

The Elite 4 is nicer, but slightly out of my range.

I had the mark 4 on my last kayak. It's a good unit for the price. A little harder to distinguish what the bottom is ie rock sand ect then a color unit but with a 7.2 amphr battery it lasted a few trips on one charge.

Nothing wrong with the Mark 4.  West Marine has the Elite 4x HDI (Hybrid Dual Imaging) 4.3" screen in COLOR.  For $169 it comes with Broadband transducer (83/200) & for $199 it comes with HDI transducer for Braodband (83/200) & DSI (down scan imaging 455/800).  DSI is great for finding structure in shallower water.

Sorry for the delay.

The Elite 4 HDI units are starting to trickle into the marketplace as I am told.  We were supposed to have done installs of them into the West Marine stores this past weekend but this got pushed back by a week SO it is my guess that they ARE starting to filter into the stores as early as this week possibly.  I will check in depth & post a reply shortly.

   Thanks!

Bill

Mark 4 has outstanding resolution, best Ive seen for a small B&W FF. Works great for me.
