Paddled out to the Pumphouse in SPB today with some mud shrimp to catch my first fish-from-kayak! Sat around for about an hour with the rod in my hand before I got the pump. I must have really surprised him because when I set the hook he immediately jumped out of the water right in front of me  . Game on. After about a half hour the sturgeon was subdued enough to get him alongside me. A nearby boat came over and helped me measure him (47 inches) which was really cool of them. Well I am officially hooked! Thanks to everyone for being so helpful and nice.

Good job.  I have caught many of them over the years, but never in a kayak.

That's funny because I was thinking he should retire now.  Don't know that it gets any better than that.

Great first catch Baron!  Many people have spent countless hours chasing the elusive dinosaur never to accomplish their goal.

Hey Baron
That is awesome and you paid the price by paddling to the Pumphouse. What time of day did you hook up? It looks like you kept him, enjoy.
Maybe next time I can join you, I live near the LL bait shop.. I have been under the weather for a few months but rebounding now.
