Looks like Thursday AM Usagi PJ and I will be haeding out at Carmel River State Beach. Was thinking about launching @ Stillwater cove but with the golf tournament thought it might be a hassle. So a little detour south to CRSB to head for the same grounds. Anyone who's interested is more than welcome.

Sounds like this might work for Friday.  I've never launched from CRSB, can you give me any particulars about parking, access, secret fishing spots?

Thanks, Pete

As you head west from the launch you will encounter the edge of the canyon.  Hit if for Lings.......and don't make me feel too jealous that I haven't been able to get down there all year.

My favorite place in the world!
You can park at the main parking lot (visible in the Google image posted) next to the river lagoon. Then lug your yak down to the beach and surf-launch. If there is a swell, walk to the north corner of the beach (where the sand meets rocks) and launch there---a little more protected.
Or...you can try to park in the secret parking spots on Ocean View Dr...just before the gnarly hair-pin turn as you drive north-west from the main parking lot. Then just carry your yak down the stairs and you're already at the north corner of the beach (the protected easy launch).

Right now is the calmest I've ever seen Carmel River SB. Back in March-April it was like 3X head high!!! HUGE shorebreak!

I plan on fishing here on Sat or Sunday or both (pending wife approval, of course...).

I can not make it during the week but do have the WAF OK for Sat or Sun and/or Monday and was also thinking of CRSB or MByaker's suggestions of Arena St. Beach in PG since the water seems to be staying relatively flat.  Also since it came up a while ago, the Monterey Bay Reggae Fest is this weekend September 1, 2 and 3.  Her is the link http://www.mbayreggaefest.net/ if someone wanted to fish and then do reggae, I can probably arrange for kayak storage at my house.

In order to not completely hi-jack this thread, I will also make a separate post in hookups for the Sat or Sun the 2nd or 3rd.

Yeah.  Randy and I like to just slide our boats down the ice plant into that northern corner.  With two people, sliding the boat back up isn't too bad.
