Seeing a bunch of DIY camera mounts and wanted input from the club. Got a GoPro for the upcoming season and need to figure how to mount it for the best footage of catch and release and just playing the fish.
Sponsored by: Pacific Outfitters, Jackson kayaks, Seeker rods. Accurate reels, Promar, Mustang Survival, Lingcod jigs.

I usually have a "vanity" camera up front, using the mass hole of the Revo and an "over-the-shoulder" camera to catch all the action up front; and for SnG, i had one mounted underwater to try and catch the would-be prey....

Now... I'm lucky if I remember to put one on the yak, charge it, put a mem card or even turn it on before I launch.....  :smt044

Greg, I've got an 18" ram flex mount together with a 15" adapt a post. Brings the height up to 33" which is the right height for behind the shoulder view. It can be very quickly adjusted to get different angles. Just grab it & re-aim wherever the action is.

This one could be modified to fit in flush mount rod holders.

Thanks for the posts, Cajun.  I have mine under construction using a mix of the basic ideas in the vids but a slightly simpler version for now.  I just took that stud out of the bottom and glued some 1/4-20 threaded rod in the hole to accept a little Giotti mini-ball such as this...

http://smile.amazon.com/Professional-Mini-Ball-Camera-Mount/dp/B000L47AHG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1400286101&sr=8-2&keywords=ball+head

Not quite as versatile as the RAM setup in the second video but cheaper by a bit and it will get me by for now.  This can then screw into the base of a GoPro Tripod adapter.  I I only had one extra post for my Cannon rod holder so mine will just be rigid at the bottom but that can be easily modified later.  The other thing I did is completely lopped off the base on the end that was originally the top.  This took 10 seconds with a sawzall and gave me a cleaner end to work with for mounting my rod holder base.  Overall this will get me by to at least record that next monster fish I catch and it will be "upgradable" if I want to improve the flexibility (plus, one more rod holder socket on my aluminum boat and it's interchangeable for both).

I'll get some pics and add them soon.

I've got mine mounted on a six foot painters pole, then have the butt end of that wrapped with glued on pipe insulation, then wrapped with duct tape. Fits snuggly in the flush mounts...

I made something similar to the one in the second video. I mount mine in a rod holder in my crate behind my seat..

I made this mostly of YakAttack components.  It is easily reached from my 14'  Hobie Pro Angler seat to turn it on and to swivel it either way to catch the action.  It clears the Mirage drive pedals but the only problem is that it bounces so I use a bungie cord from the front of the yak to the mount.

I just ordered this from Greenfish:

I'm planning to mount it directly behind me and adjust the flex arm for an "over the shoulder" perspective.
