Moss Landing. This was my first ocean kayak Fishing trip.My cousin Monster Guppy and myself set out past the jetty in Moss Landing totally newbies. We paddled straight out about A mile and A half or so and started dropping our lines. The bait never hit the bottom was kinda creepy but bait everywhere! I started pulling up these Jurrasic looking fish but didn't know what the hell they were. I was told by A power boater that they wee garbage fish. :smt044 Caught thirty or so then decided to move in shallower. We started picking up chovies with the sabiki jigs when all of A sudded my rod went bendo!!!! After A few minutes A silver salmon started doing some aerobatic flips out of the water. Apperently he hit A chovie that was on my sabiki! :smt044

Nice Andy.  What's the fish, the second from the bottom on the right, in 'Moss Landing 029.jpg'?

I think those slates are edible. In Greece I had a "boiled ray salad" that was delicious. Found out later it was skate wings.

How did the Hale taste?

I have caught hake up here in Humboldt, but it has been awhile.  I never tried eating them.  They are oily and the flesh seemed a little mushy.

Thanks for the interesting report and pics.
