In an effort to help out Chef, I have renamed the Tie Dye MBF series to the Chef's MFF (Money For Friends) series.

The changes are thus:

Still will be $10 entry
Winner will obtain the rotating "Tie Dye Chef's Hat" trophy with their name custom stitched into it, a fully custom tie dyed 100% cotton chefs hat.  Every new winner will get their name stitched into the hat and be able to wear it untill dethroned.
All entry money will go to Chef's fund.

When Chef beats his cancer, we will present him with the hat as a victory trophy for him, as he will be the ultimate winner in the series!

Bill and I are working together on this, so be a tiny bit patient and we will get this off the ground.

OK, so I am trying to get as much participation as quickly as possible so we can get the show on the road for Chef.

I got a great suggestion from Alfredo.  Seeing that we have a hard time deciding on bodies of water that we can each get too at the same time, he proposed a virtual tourney to start things off.  We will still have single venue tourneys.

Great idea Alfredo!  I have done this before with my SoCal club for a perch tournament.  The basic gist is that we set a day for fishing and we each go to our spots and fish.  Any fish (or fish plural) caught for submission must be photographed with a date stamped digi photo next to a tape measure.  The total length wins.

For the perch tourney we did it with total length for a limit, but for the MFF tourney we could do longest LMB caught.

This format is attractive on a number of levels.  Entries can be directly sent to the Chef fund.  Travel is minimized.  You can ply waters that you are familiar with.  People who want to C&R have it real easy.  We can get it going quickly.  With the current format of fund collection and rotating hat prize, motivation for fraud is minimized.

I'm all for this idea, I think it is great.  Obviously, with LMB the format favors those that live near fertile waters (less of a problem with the surfperch tourney), but with the current situation I am MUCH more concerned with raising money and having fun than being hyper competitive (that is for B@MII).

What say all of you?

We need not limit the MFF series to LMB.  We can have remote perch tourneys or whatever species you want (batrays favors me as I live near elkhorn.....).

Chime in folks.

I'm ordering the hat tomorrow, and will have it shipped directly to the tie dye artist.  Here is a shot of the style hat I am going for.....one size fits all.

It will be tie dyed in a rainbow swirl.

I'd be happy to host at a central valley location.

If we get enough people, we can do a bbq/pot luck.

Chris -

I am in if it is in late October or November. I am really booked out including a long range trip out of San Diego at the end of September. If things go well I should be able to donate some fresh and smoked ahi or at least albacore for the winner also. Alot of the reserviors turn over in November which would bring trout into the possibilities.
