I will be in San Mateo for work this week and my hotel is right next to the ocean. I'm obviously out of my element and am wondering if anyone knows some good spots for shore fishing (left the yak at home). Sharks and rays in the bay? I've never fished it before and am curious as to what you folks get into this time of the year in this area?

I've had luck catching rays and sharks off of Beach Park Blvd in San Mateo. Anywhere along the shore should be good.
There's a pier by the San Mateo Bridge but its been closed for some time now.

Good luck!

if you are staying at a place on the ocean/ coast, why would you go shark fishing on the bay?
try surf casting into the pacific from the rocks, instead.
