so decided to mimic andrew zimmern's show he had in thailand where he went to a restaurant and had deep fried sand crabs. well best decision of my life. it is like a mix of shrimp and crab in a tasty little morsel. now i need to bring my kid and nephews along just so i can get more than 50. lol. i kid. but it was delicious. live and coated in corn starch deep fried. when they float they are pretty much cooked. i toasted them a lil longer to a golden brown. and dipped in the sweet chilli sauce or even just buy themselves it was super. just wanted to share bros.

Interesting.....those are little guys though.
So you ate them whole? No cleaning involved Except rinsing?
What about the ones with eggs?

Can they be preserved? How do you rig them for perch?

How do you rig them for perch?

On a hook!  3-way rig with a pyramid sinker.  Or hi-lo rig and have 2 baits working.  Cast out and let sit.

there like tiny shrimp you order at a restaurant. Well more like the shrimp head if you ever had it deep fried.except the shell is a lot softer. Texture is like funnyun the chip
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

The one with the egg's are my favorite and the best ones are the ones that just finished molting. :smt002

If you use them for bait, hook them through the edge of the shell so you don't kill them. If using a sliding sinker, pinch of the diggers.

the shell once fried was softer than a shrimps.. i mean it was more like eating softshell crab. they are super delicious and i regret not trying them sooner.. i havent tried the ones with eggs. but to answer the cleaning portion. i just rinsed them out really well with cold water. tryin gto take out the sand from between their tiny legs. then coated in rice flour deep fried to an orange brown. as Scooby-doo would say "deerishus"

sorry for the late response

Interesting.   I will have to try some from a spot I know.  The perch don't like the sand crabs there so they are all very big, biggest one I saw was like 4" long, more like a mega sand crab.  More meat = tastier?   :smt044     I guess we will find out.  Thanks for sharing.
