Hey everyone, Happy New Year!
I'm looking to get a fish finder/GPS combo if there any good models available.  Does anyone have any advice and recommendations?  I'll be installing it on an OK Prowler 13.  Ideally, I'd like to be able to use the transducer scupper if I can.
Thanks!

Get color if you are going to get a combo. Humminbird discontinued the 597ci combo. You can still find them on Amazon. Them you mail in the transducer and they will send you back the scupper transducer free.

Are you sure about that for the 597.  My 597 has a different transducer, the long skinny ones, used for DI.  I asked them if there was a different one I could use because it didn't fit the transducer hole in the Ultra 4.7.  They said no.

Ahhh ... are you talking the DI version?

The lowrance elite-4 hdi is a nice unit and if you want to scupper mount it lowrance makes a scupper transducer mount

There are some good deals to be found on the Lowrance Elite 5 or Elite 4 units in wake of the release of the Elite 5 HDI or Elite 4 HDI units.

If you have any Lowrance specific questions, feel free to drop me a line.

Thanks for all of the feedback!  Looks like the 386 and 597 are readily available on Ebay in the $300-$400 range.  Gonna keep looking some more.  Does anyone know if the scupper transducer from a HB Piranha Max210 will work with either of these?

Haven't look at the HB models but the Elite 5 HDI looks sweet...

If you fish both salt & fresh ... the Lowrance HDI series is hard to beat for feature, price & performance.

What would really be helpful is to have a clinic on the finders and gps. with enough warning I'd love to attend one.

+1 on a clinic on Fishfinders and GPS.  I would be very interested in attending and getting some info for decision making purchase.
