What an awesome weekend!!!!!!
It was great to meet such an awesome crew! Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Tourney day was a little rough for us, with am getting pretty sick right off the bat. She stuck through it for 5 hours though, and still landed a nice 28 inch ling  :smt003

Our OTW highlight of the weekend was sunday, when we brought 4 shaker salmon to the boat, and had a double hookup!!!! I measured the largest one, and it came out to just over 21". We were a little bummed that we didnt bring home any chrome, but it was great to know that we were doing something right.

Thank you Eric for a great event! We will be back for sure!!!

Aloha,

Isao

So incredibly bummed I couldn't make it this year. This last year has been tough for me away from all my NCKA brothers and sisters I have made in the last couple of years. I'm in the last couple of months of school right now and my schedule wouldn't allow for GS8 or the upcoming Albion tirp. Glad everyone made it up and back safe and sound. I look forward to seeing everyone soon.

A thank you to everyone who posts up pics of the event, those of us who couldn't make it appreciate them more than you can imagine!!

It is impossible to describe the friendships, and connections you make through this site. Most people don't understand when you try to explain what NCKA is and what it is all about. All I know is these are some of the best people you can ever meet, and some of the best memories you can make!!

Missed ya CNEW!  Looking forward to seeing you when you're all done with school!  Good luck!!!  :smt003

WOW! Just now recovering from an awesome GS8!
I had a great time hanging with good friends and making new ones.
Thanks to my camp mates- Rider, Ricci, Christina, Napajustin, Pescadono for putting up with me!
I ended every day at around 8pm. passed out tired in the Subaru, only to awaken at around 10pm to wash off the yak etc.
Next time I will make more of an effort to roam the campground and visit friends more :smt001
Ended up catching a ton of fish - all small to med. size. On tourney day I gambled that I could use the fly rod to fool some bigger fish, but it was, in the end a foolish move as I could only manage to catch a lot of only one species.
Oh well - next time.
Eric and crew, and the sponsors really outdid themselves this year, the venue was great and the food and party was top notch, as always.
Ended up leaving on Sun. after an impromptu Uke session at Lapu Lapu's campsite, I really want to do that again, this time with the Ukers I missed jamming with - Scott, Jim, Naomi - so... Next time! :smt001

Oh man, where do I start.  I thought last GS was great, but this was even greater!  Couldn't have asked for a better weekend to relax and hang out with the NCKA crew.  I'm already looking forward to GS9!

I wish I had some pics to share, but a 30" ling went apeshit on the trough while I was taking the picture with my iphone and slapped the phone right out of my hand and managed to get away too.   :smt005    Not so pissed about the phone, but all the pictures I lost from this trip!!  I will catch and eat that ling next year.  No pic n release for him!    :smt044

Thank you Eric for bringing us all together for this amazing event.  The cove is special place and I look forward to making it up there again.
If you ain't first, you're last.

Thanks Eric for all your hard work on GS8.  I'm so glad I finally made one of your events.  Now I see why you like the Cove soooo much!  What a magically place.  I'm already looking forward to the next one.  Thanks to everyone that helped make GS8 possible.  The sponsors, volunteers, winners and the friendly Shelter Cove locals.  I will be back, and I have a feeling it will be sooner than later.

Big Mahalo to Eric and the crew for another awesome event. You've out done yourself again this year and I can't wait to see what's in for GS9.  My wife and I really enjoyed this event and we got to see old friends and made new ones. We are looking forward for next year. The owner of the campsite (Jack) came over to our campsite and we talked a little bit. He really dig it that the potluck was over at the campground. He spoke very highly of NCKA and he mentioned that NCKA are a bunch of fun and friendly people. Once again thank you so much for putting together such a great event. Also congratulations to all the winners for GS8.

I really think Jack did a great job with the campground upgrades!  That potluck spot was super!!!  We should give him a plaque or something next year  :smt003 Only wish there were less gopher holes to trip over while stumbling from site to site  :smt044

The campground looked great!!!

I went into the deli several times to try and see Jack but he was never there...zilla said he came by on Sunday right after I bailed.  :smt012

I would chip in to get Jack something as a token of our appreciation next year...

Jim

True, Guys.  Jack is excellent to us, and I love his enthusiasm and support.  I do give him a t-shirt every year, and I'm aiming to hook him up with a redwood trough.  I'd love to see him showered with other NCKA thank you's.   :smt001  (then I'll ask him to make sure there are more portapots next year!   :smt005)

I did get to see his son in law Tony in the deli who has been offering for years to take me out ab diving to get a 10...when I told him I got one his face lit up and he gave me a big old handshake and "hell yeah"!!
