Third time in 10 years? Stop complaining. I get a notice ever year and served only once...for an hour (the guy pleaded).

+1
Own a home, pay your taxes and drive a car, puts you at the head of the line for a yearly summons

People who try to skip out are the reason OJ is a free man today.

While an inconvenience sometimes, I agree that serving is an important part of our civic duty.  I served as a Contra Costa County Civil Grand Juror for a year, a few years back.  It was an experience I will never forget and the knowledge I gained and the friendships I made with my fellow Grand Jurors are priceless.  I whine when summoned, like most people but when it comes down to it, jury service is a good thing.  If it's not a financial hardship to serve, the value of service is frequently the knowledge gained by the jurors and an opportunity worth the investment of time.   I look forward to serving as long as it doesn't get in the way of fishing!   Being a primarily "salt water" guy, I'm available during the Winter months.  Too bad there isn't a way to coordinate jury service with one's optimal availability.

Throw it away not here. Everyone did that until a couple years ago. When they sent out over a hundred summons and only 16 showed. Within a couples months several people were prosecuted for failur to report. This county doesn't mess around.

When enough people don't show the judge sends the bailiff out and pulls people of the street. Bailiffs have also been sent to walmart to find jurors. No joke

My response was rough and baiting and that is not too cool..sorry..still  I dont  have any faith in "the legal system"
I like the people from wal mart comment and they probably do as good of a job as folks who do their civic duty or even those eager to be selected...
I would hope I never need to a jury to decide my fate...guilty or not

If we want to improve the judicial system maybe we should put the lawyers under oath.   :smt044

Only called once. Guy pleaded before the jury was even selected.
Just a guess, but if you came right out and said, "If he's here he's gotta be guilty" that should pretty much get you out of serving on the jury.

Had a friend on a jury once.
The witness picked the defendant out of 10 mug shots.
When the jury was shown the mug shots the witness chose from my friend was flabbergasted.
One of the mug shots was his.
He was excused on the spot.

Things would actually break down in a hurry if cops and lawyers had to tell the truth in the performance of their duties.
