I was just wondering if anyone is doing any striper fishing this weekend. I have yet to catch one using anchovies and artificial lures since moving out here in 2010. I've done both the tiki and turner cut tournament trying to catch striper and have not landed one. I tried over at rio vista by the bridge on New Year's Eve and was not successful. I would just love to catch a keeping and bring it home to the family to eat. My fishing buddy caught some last month and it was so good. I live in Lodi and would be willing to drive to sac just to catch one. I thought about fishing the stockton port but don't know the area that well

I've been driving by there the past couple weeks doing a job down in Soledad and I was curious what kind of fish they have in there. Where did you launch your kayak at?

Also thinking about joining you though I might not be able to do to work. I have tried the forebay many times last year for just a few shorts each time. I think I need to watch and learn from a more experienced fisherman.

The main lake at San Luis is also a good choice this time of year as the wind stays down more. However access at Dinosaur or Basualt may be questionable due to the low water - worth a drive by to see. If you can get in, the fish should be really concentrated
At Delta spots like Turner I've had good luck slow trolling live bluegill

I tried for striper today at white slough trolling lures and was not successful. I didn't spot any fish on my fish finder as well. How do you troll with live bait?

Bonafide, You typically just drift with the current with your live bait just swimming around along with you, that is how I see the guys do it at the port. I believe it is a drop shot style rig so you can accurately stay at a certain depth.
