Thinking about trying to put some sort of music on my kayak. I was thinking about maybe a small water proof speaker I could hook up to my phone nothing loud or crazy just something to play a little music while I paddle and fish. My only concern is I'm not sure if this would spook the fish. What are your thoughts? Do any of you have tunes on your boat?

I listen to the sounds of nature while in nature and save the tunes for pre&post launchings.

Really doesn't need to be very loud to hear it on the water.  I often turn on Pandora on the iPhone and stick it in a dry bag behind my seat.  You can just barley hear it though. I am hoping that they do make a waterproof Jambox this year as mentioned in a press article I read.  But until they do, I was thinking of trying one of these guys: http://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Bluetooth-Wireless-Speakerphone-FreshETech/dp/B00E4OFYKY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1389218155&sr=8-2&keywords=waterproof+bluetooth+speakers

Has some pretty good reviews!

I have three of these- for work -home outdoor projects - and kayaking.. fits in two large freezer zip locks(in case one opens) and  one charge lasts all day-or two...ten preset a.m and ten preset f.m choices always set...n.pr....kzsc..krml...bob f.m...this american life..wait wait dont  tell me...garrison keeler/ home companion...I spend whole days /weekends out on the bay floating alone and these shows repeat through the weekend...sat out by myself one weekend fishing..listened to the whole monterey pop festival recordings on a two day special....ryobi work radio, battery and charger nor included, but the whole thing can be found around x-mas in multi tool kit specials  from 39-99$...plenty of sound levels -clock- does not seem to scare fish in 35-100 f.o.w
little thing and goes in my milk crate when launching or landing and on the deck when fishing...top notch..

does maybe attract Great White Sharks...but more research is needed

I like the idea of that one

iphone, lifeproof case and waterproof earbuds.  I found that I'd rather just listen to nature though.  In ordinary circumstances blasting tunes loud enough for others to hear would be pretty inconsiderate.

Walkman in a dry bag with headphones.
No one wants to hear your music when they are out on the water no matter how great you might think it is.
And by the use of the word 'you' I mean anyone pumping music OTW, ESPECIALLY those wanna be thugs in their ski boats with the booming speakers at the crack of dawn.  :smt013
I get out to enjoy nature, not someone's music.

Hate the "BROs" with the wake boats and the loud music. Always have a female on the bow and they speed around drinking beer.

Hate them guys.

I don't plan to have my music so loud that everyone OTW can hear it but I don't like the idea of using headphones OTW because I like to be able to hear the drunken douchebags with the big loud fast boats so I can try to get out of the way before they run me over

Sound carries very well over water.
You might think it's low, but believe me, it can be heard from quite a distance.
