I am more lost now than ever.

I bought my monster of kayak ( 2013 Hobie Pro Angler) on little more than the fact that I enjoyed using an outback a few years back so I got this thing.. Now let me tell you, this kayak is leaps and bounds over the outback I used while I am on the water. I thoroughly enjoy this kayak ON THE WATER.. It turns smooth and strong, easy to cruise with for long distances, STORAGE is ridiculously available everywhere you look, and the bimini top is just ridiculously nice to have on the sunny or rainy day. It is almost hard to focus on fishing because I enjoy dinking around on it so much.

   Now, all that stuff is great and dandy, love it. My dilemma is, This thing is an absolute GIANT out of the water. I cannot tell you how many times I have woken up at 5 am, get ready for fishing, gear everything up and finally get to the part of loading the yak up on the truck.... I turn around, walk inside and enjoy a cup of coffee with my morning news and forget about it. I hate feeling like a lazy guy or "quitter" but if you have ever loaded a pa 14 onto the top of lifted truck after a days fishing I think you can relate somewhat.

  So at this point I just keep it clean until one of those "big fishing trips" comes along, I have taken it to the port and enjoyed it, but pulling a pa 14 up the ramp while fully rigged on my lonesome sucks terribly. That Amador tournament nearly gave me a heart attack pulling my giant up that ramp. I feel like I really am letting myself down.  I have been skimming craigs for a perfect trailer(13-14 ft and narrow as all hell) but no luck just yet. Maybe some of you have had this kind of "lack of motivation" I would love to hear about how you made it work for you.

You can get A small narrow trailer at Harbor freight and modify it.. Just A thought..

I am a bit weary of harbor freight trailers to be honest. I buy tools and throw around stuff from there all the time. those seem to cheap to be true lol. I am on a tight budget as well, with the house and bills right now. 200 max, which is probably why I have not found the trailer for me yet. I really think a trailer should've been part of my plan from the start. Hey, I overshot my own ability with sheer excitement and confidence. Also, when I haul it on the rack of my truck I always think its going to come flipping off if I go over 50 hahaha

I am going to do more research on this one. decent length. pretty good reviews.

You're not the only one who sometimes suffers from early-morning "don't feel like hauling the yak" syndrome. It helps if I load my yak onto my truck the night before...then I just have to grab my bait & lunch from the fridge and start driving.

Also, I think you're onto something here...anyone considering a Hobie PA should probably include a trailer in their plans.
And those HF trailers have a pretty good reputation on here. Definitely search the archives for info & ideas.

I feel your pain, I've felt your pain.some of us has been calling it "the hippo".two things you can do buy a trailer or sell it and buy the 12'.but a trailer would be the way to go.only thing is now your gonna avoid the lakes without a boat ramp.or go out more with a fishing buddy than you can split the labor

I was thinking I could always haul it to the parking lot and toss my little wheel cart on there and wheel it where ever I can launch it. Which is why I got it in the first place. There are a few places that I will HAVE to top load it and thats ok, I just hate using the "sportstraps" on long trips on the freeway.  I feel like they will just come loose one day. but using ratchet straps was not recommended by the dealer, because I could overtighten them, but i will do what i have to, to get to sawmill lake and a few others. about to call you sir.

One more thing to remember about loading the night before; LOCK IT UP!!!! Kayaks have a funny way of growing legs while you are sleeping
