Fish Junky joined me for a last trip of the year to Amador.  We dropped the yaks in at 8 AM and set about trolling.  Just out of the chute Junky scores a fat rainbow.  The lake is so low.  It doesn’t take many boats on the water to make it crowded.  I trolled around the lake using everything in the box at depths from surface to 20 feet (lots of marks there) to no avail.  I didn’t have any crawlers today or I would have tried them.  I found Junky later and he had picked up another by the dam.  The fish were shallow today but just not plentiful.  Everyone I spoke to had “some” fish but no limits.  We ended the day at about 1 PM with Junky taking 3 and me ending the year with a skunk.  2014 will be better…….or so the agency that sold me my 2014 license told me so!  A few photos for your approval…

Junky picks up a bow.

This is the end of the Jackson Creek arm....it should be about 50+ feet deep here!!!

All the lakes are damn low. Kind of shocking. Looks like the 70's.

WE had 1.92 inches of rain last yr and not much in 2012 I didn't see the total. The fish need the water, and so do we.

He ran a solid black GVF plug for one and a small spoon for the other 2.  One guy in a Hobie took his fish with a dodger, a Wedding Ring with a small piece of crawler on it on lead core (one color out).......and he trolled pretty fast.  You might see a lot of marks at 20 feet.  Don't waste your time.....they won't bite.  Stay in top 5 feet or less for the best action.  Good luck.

No those were his chest waders.  He's a big dude so "lots of material".   They really stand out because of the color.  It was cold early but warmed up nicely.

ScottV:  The ramp fee with 2 yaks and Junky and I was $32........Amador has always been high.  Could have bought some fish for less but wouldn't have the adventure.

Thanks for the link, that is just insane.  Especially for a person like me that doesn't eat trout.
