Report of the Month: January

i too vote Clayman,AbKing and BigJim (not in that order) right now!.....then the rest of us can fight for spots 4-12.

I think you and I could definitely get a trip together this year Eric.  The wild-card will be BigJim: we'll need to choose a place where he could dive while we fished.  So that means it'd definitely have to be an ocean trip.  Some kind of Loast Coast adventure perhaps? 

Thanks guys! I'm still not completely sure how this is gonna work out. Maybe it'll become a permanent NCKA fixture...or maybe it'll be an epic fail? This is my idea so I obviously hope it is successful. And I'm providing the monthly prizes from my own pocket (not lookin' for WTGs; just trying to give back a little...so please save your attaboys for the next great report you read hahaha).

"Is the contest for the best report from January...or the best report posted in January?"
Good question.
And the answer is Best Report posted in the month of January. So your fishing report describing the action on December 30 qualifies for the contest IF the report was posted in January.
Why?
Because...if you wait until February 3 to post your epic report from January 28 (for example), we will already be voting on January's Report of the Month! And thusly, your report would qualify for February's report of the month.
Gosh that sounds more confusing when type (it sounded fairly simple in my head hahaha). But hopefully you all comprende.

So far I have received 1 nomination. It was sent anonymously via PM to 'Report of the Month' so I will not reveal it here (in this thread) unless it is also nominated publicly (like, if someone replies in this thread and says "I nominate so-and-so's report").
On February 1, I will post a poll with the Top 7. Then we vote for the best report.

You know what? ...that was kinda part of the reason I thought this w/b a good idea.
Perhaps it will encourage people to post more frequently. Or maybe it'll encourage people to put more thought/effort into their reports.
I admit that I don't post as many reports as I used to. But I also yakfished less in 2013, compared to the previous 7yrs.   
There are others who, like myself, posted less reports in 2013. (For one reason or another; everybody has their reasons and that's fine.) I would love to see more reports from those people.
So, while I understand that Report of the Month may not outweigh peoples' personal reasons for posting less in 2013--maybe it'll provide a little incentive to come back and post more reports! I mean, who doesn't want some NCKA decals, one of PK's favorite lures, and/or world-wide (web) recognition?

Checklist for when I will win:

1.  Is it ocean salmon season?  If yes, abking will win, don't bother;
2.  Is it late fall or winter?  If yes, clay man will win, don't bother;
3.  Is it any other time of year and Big Jim is anywhere near salt?  If yes, don't bother

So I'm thinking big Jim could use a board paid trip to Green Bay this October for a month of cheese and maybe a saints game at lambeau. Then a mortal might just have a chance.

I love reports from so many people on here...everyone has their own style and it's awesome to check out all the different ways we have fun on the kayaks.

Rockhopper and the SoCoSafetyScummies put up some STELLAR reports last year. 

I'll be doing my best to post as much as last year, but gotta focus on family this year as well. New Years resolution.
