I see that as of this post, there are 3434 members in NCKA. However a great many of these members have less than 10 posts, and many (lurkers) have 0 post.

How about a way to show some stats on the NCKA membership as a whole, such as duration of active membership (last active - date registered), total time spent online and total posts? So you can finally see how badly you got the bug relative to all other members. And graph them similar to the user stats per member.

This will provide a more accurate gauge of the number of active members than just registered members or site visitors.

I don't have anything more than the stats page.  There is a small link at the bottom of the Forum Index page that says [More Stat].  It leads you here ... http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?action=stats

I never knew that link was there. Good stuff. I noticed that in the forum stats, you list the 10 top posters and the 10 people who spent the most time online (Allen, you spent nearly a year on this forum!). To get these top 10 lists, you must have done a sort of the member user stats. What I am suggesting is to add a graph showing the distribution of the number of posts and second graph showing the distribution of the number of hours (days) spent online. Also add a graph showing the distribution of the active membership duration (last active date - date registered).

That page is part of the base package for the forum software. I have no idea about the code.  Probably not something I have time to look into right now.

I think it would be beneficial to have members searchable by location.  I've tried searching by locations with the members filter on but it brings up all topics citing the location in the text rather than members claiming that place as home. It would also address keeping up with who is where currently because a lot of people move from where they first posted their intro but do still change the location in their profile. Seems like the data is there and we just need to use it so that it encourages hookups.

Craning my neck to look at pictures posted sideways gets old. How about a way to rotate images during preview? Would that fix the error between keyboard and chair?

Not that I wanna make anymore work for you Allen but since you created this post soliciting ideas how about a GARAGE for each member? As in "What's in your garage?" page to a member's profile where they can list their kayakfishing arsenal of kayaks, paddles, fishing rods & reels, fishfinders, tackle, apparel, etc. That way new kayak anglers can look & see what people are using if others care to share that info.

Kinda like Slaughtercraft's idea...it would be cool if there was a google map showing where members lived. So for example, the map would show a pin on Marina, and when you click on it, it'll expand to show there are 14 members from Marina (Sin Coast, ReelCrazy831, PablitoPescador, etc). This would possibly encourage people to be more outgoing or form more hookups. But it could also generate more metrics that could be leveraged to demonstrate NCKA's regional dominance (for advertising stuff).

Is there a way to search your messages with keywords similar to searching posts?

Yes, but I find search for messages even worse than search for posts.  Click "My Message" menu at the top, then the "Search Message" menu item on that page.

Oh yeah, it depends on how you display the menu item within "My Message".  You can display them as drop down from the top, or click the << like arrows at the right and they display in expanded form to the left.
