I still have my straps on.

They fit my NRS boots/sneakers just about right.  Many times I troll very slow with pauses as I glide. The straps seem to help me stay connected so I can keep focused on the other stuff going on around me.

I also like the straps to slow me down when getting ready to hit the GO button. Avoid the temptation of hammering the pedals so hard out of the gate.

It's a personal choice and I could see times when you really do want to connect with pedal fast (fishing surf zone/exposed rocks etc.) where speed counts.

+1 on that. They fit over my fishing Crocs perfect.

Like the hanger idea as this provides support when not pedalling.

I pulled off all the straps and sawed off the tabs on the pedals to keep the deck space clear. More ran once my lines caught on the tabs..no more.

LOL That happens all the time to me as I use the pedal for a rod holder sometimes.
Still have my straps on, sometimes i just pedal with my feet on top of them or with the back of the pedal if i'm going slow.
But, when you are jumping on it it feels better to have the straps for me.
