When I tucked Kenny into bed at night and we said prayers he would always pray that his Dad made it home safe...

That literally brought tears to my eyes.  No child should have to worry about that. 

Jim we'll keep Fred in our prayers and remember those who have give their lives and those who and continue to serve. I have a grandson who along with his wife, are in the army. They just had a baby boy last month. Your story about bedtime prayers for dad to come home safe hit me hard! We'll keep praying till they all come home!

Thank you for sharing this dark news with us. Many prayers and hopeful thoughts. There is no greater virtue than that of a man willing to go into harms way to protect those unable to protect themselves.

Man, my heart always sinks whenever I hear stories like this.  I know that there are a lot more happening over there that we don't know about. My deepest condolences and prayers to their families.

  We can never do enough for all that walked into harms way,,,  prayers to Fred , his comrades and his family, that has got to be so tough…

I sometimes pulled 3 to 4 day shifts,  I could see the change in my kids when I got home…  what these guys are doing being away for so long with the thought that they might not return…  can't even imagine…

I get many stories through the HOW updates across the country about what these guys are going through and it's just heart breaking…

But they sure do like fishing…  Hope to have some HOW events soon if ya all want to do something…   

So sorry to hear this Jim. I'll never forget the day our sons unit was hit when he was serving in Afghanistan. We pray every night for our military families. Special prayers will be going out for Fred and his unit.
