AOTY/DOTY 2014 (March update)

  My favorite was someone's feet holding the tail while they took the picture. It might have been Big Jim's.

Sorry if I'm beating dead horse, I'll play by rules, and maybe not worry so much about killing for points ...

Rules are rules. You can manipulate the fish length with a mouth open or closed. I know Adams fish length would nat have changed, but the mouth was slightly open. Bottom line, force it closed.

And questions are questions,,,,,, whatever your screen-name is this hour... If it makes you feel any better, I don't disagree, just wondering, thanks for the answer!

Eric,

Where I sturgeon fish it is possible to CPR.  You would need to take the sturgeon to shore to measure, photograph and release.  I was able to do this with my 2012 AOTY sturgeon, and I was solo. Admittedly there is some extra stress placed on the fish, which probably correlates to a higher mortality rate. However, sturgeon are robust fish, and my 2012 sturgeon swam away with very little coaxing/recovery after a successful catch/photo/release.

As for my 2013 sturgeon, I had decided to keep one legal fish this year before I went on my first trip.  AOTY or not, that fish was destined for my freezer. 

I'm in this year and plan to have a fun AOTY 2014.

Heads up folks on one other AOTY rule change for 2014:

All entries must be rounded down to the nearest quarter inch.

Let's be honest...it's impossible to accurately tell an 1/8th or 1/10th of an inch from a picture.

This will make it a LOT easier on the Committee to determine the accurate measurement of an entry.
