AOTY/DOTY 2014 (March update)

I've pondered signing up for AOTY for a long time, primary reason being I like to release larger fish and it certainly doesn't do them any good to lay them on a measuring board, clamp their mouths shut, and shoot pictures.  But now I figure if I'll be doing the fish too much harm by trying to get those precious AOTY points, then I'll simply choose not to lay them on the measuring board.

I look forward to trying this out.  Question regarding the 'salmon' category: Can I submit a landlocked Chinook salmon for that category?  Just in case I can't catch one from the salt this year, it'd be nice to submit a 24+ inch landlocked 'nookie for that category  .

I'll defer to the angler guys (bwodun and Sailfish) for the salmon question.

I know this is the rule:

7. Only fish that you can normally keep and eat (per CA DFG regulations) are eligible.

The landlocked Chinook are totally legal to keep and eat (that's the only reason they're planted), so I would assume it would work.  I guess the question would be whether or not you caught the salmon from the ocean (where size limits apply) or from a river that has a zero-retention limit on salmon.  But, I'll defer to the decision makers.
