Went out yesterday to test it out and see how easy it was to open and close while sitting in the yak and just as easy as the circle. Can leave my feet on the peddles and just chicken leg a little and it opens up and can pull the boxes out as needed.

If you want to add this make sure to order seals separate, for some reason they do not seem to include with the hatch.

I remember I had one of those square hatches on my 1st or 2nd hull?

LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.

I've seen that mod and frickin' love it.  For the life of me I wish they would change the mold and sell the Outback with this rectangular hatch stock.  I bet it makes for a much nicer standing platform too.

Is that spray foam inside your hull?

I hope I'm to late in suggesting this, but SAVE THE SRAP PLASTIC YOU CUT OUT in case you have to make any repairs to your hull.

hobie actually made the 2013 hulls with indents in the corners to mark the cut out for this upgrade. they took them away for 2014, not sure why.

Very Nice!  Is there anything similar that might work with a Revo?  The round center hatch is located OK but even the Hobie Gear buckets don't really optimize the storage like the one you installed.  The deeper gear bucket tends to slip off of the hatch ridge and drop to the bottom of the hull.  Other than pool noodles to limit travel, I haven't seen any solutions.  Being able to hold and access multiple boxes would be great.

I can make anything work. They make a square gear bucket for it too.
