so far in this my first year of crabbing. Can you suggest different spots? I also saw about the whales in Monterey. Is there a place close to that that I could drop traps and then go whale watching while they soak?

If you are getting crabs, why go a bizzalion miles south to see whales.  I have seen them far closer than I wanted to at HMB, and saved two hours of driving and half a tank of gas (not knocking the southerners in any way shape or form).

Great advice. I have actually kayaked for a week with the Orca's up in Canada. Only asking for new spots to try to get some secret spots out of you :smt002.

Welcome, PaddlingBear.  Thanks for revealing your secret spots!   :smt003 :smt002

Come on up to Humboldt and I'll share some secret spots with you.  Whales and dolphins can show up anywhere - just do your time and you'll be in them sooner or later.   :smt001

Welcome to NCKA PaddlingBear  :smt006  I saw many whales at Still Water cove during the Summer time but not recently.
