Everyone in the Sacramento area knows about Mikuni's and Fuji-(horrible but unlimited)...

But does anyone know of any smaller "mom and pop" shops that put out a legit sushi roll or two. I love supporting smaller businesses and from my experiences from going to them it always seems they treat you leaps and bounds better because they want you as a repeat customer.
the only other smaller place that i have been two that pretty much always has killer sushi is a spot called Satori's. (**this next part please dont make an automatic judgement about it based off of this**) it is located on Elk Grove Blvd, in the Wal-Mart Plaza center, closest to EG Blvd.
It is a smaller location but it is clean, the service is good and the rolls taste fresh to me. The prices are extremely resonable... reason being is that they have the Fuji Sushi all you can eat buffet in the same plaza.... and they pump out a TON  of sushi but it is complete crap, service is horrible.....(fuji sushi NOT Satori)

give em a try..

anyone know of other small hole in the wall spots?

oh on another side note I spent a year in Korea on tour(army) and i loved everything about their food including the kimchi so if anyone knows of a Korean spot (AUTHENTIC KOREAN) then please share that also. that would be helpful.

try "Hana Tsubaki" in East Sacramento.  Its not a "hole in the wall", but one of the oldest sushi spots in sac, I think.

I hope I'm not jacking your thread but any NCKA sushi recommendations in San Jose?

Everything in Japantown is pretty mediocre to me.

The izkaya places Hoshi and Dan are the best I've found so far in SJ for sushi (other food there is great too!). Any other suggestions?

Not mom and pop unless they are Godzilla's parents.
But the sushi is pretty good here and it's all you can eat.  :smt001

http://www.yelp.com/biz/sushi-elite-sacramento Natomas, nice clean place, hot attentive waitresses...

http://www.yelp.com/biz/raku-sushi-west-sacramento Local hole in the wall, all-you-can eat lunches nom-nom-nom...

http://www.yelp.com/biz/ju-hachi-by-takas-sacramento#query:taka%20sushi Taka's, been there about a half-million years, haven't been there a while but real good last time I was there.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/arigato-sushi-sacramento fancy-schmancy hipster sushi, but it was still tasty (if a trifle expensive) last time I was there.
Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

In Rohnert Park there's Hana

http://www.hanajapanese.com/

In Sausalito there's Sushi Ran

http://sushiran.com/

Two of the best, if not the best sushi restaurants in the bay area. All the chefs go to wine country chefs, which I am one, go to Hana, I had my best ever sushi meal at Sushi Ran. the fish just kept getting better and better. Both places are expensive but definitely worth it.

I've always wanted to try this place. It's location and the cars outside always make me think there's a bunch of Yakuza mobsters in there.  :smt044
