my scupper pro TW. functional with ghetto-rigged overtones.  :smt004

console is eagle cuda 242 ($80), garmin e-trex ($99), orca compass ($40). battery power is big rechargeable
in lock n lock ($6) with wire seal ($11), held in place with butt pack around scupper posts ($9). I got a spare battery.
two batteries plus charger ($40). cable clam ($22) into boat.

you can see some flotation aids to ward off sinking due to puncture from shark teeth  :smt002. 4" pool noodles
along the beams ($10?). expanding foam flotation under the seat and into the tank well ($50,  :smt012).
I sometimes stuff PFD ($29) in bow of kayak  :smt003.

cart ($110?) fits in hatch if needed. so does crate if unclipped but not at the same time. crate is playmate cooler with holes cut for straps. cooler floats. also has ABS tubes ghetto rigged in place for rod holders and stern-pointing trolling tubes ($0). a second butt pack is around the crate and holds radio and drift chute.

seat back gift from the floor of alan tani's garage ($0) (thanks alan!).

padz mini-cell padding in seat ($16?). wet but low gravity center and comfy.

note the safety device for gnarly seas, a surf-leash tether from bow to my right ankle. not always used, but when alone
and miles from shore, somewhat comforting against the specter of being separated from the boat. sometimes I run the drift chute off this surf-leash too so I am bow upwind.

Also the paddle leash ($20?)

This boat is a good ocean trolling machine. I use sunglasses with bicycle mirror on them to watch the rods.

That's a nice, clean setup, John.

I dislodged my transducer last weekend and I'm thinking about using the 'noodle method' of attachment as well.

Randy... It's worked suprisingly well for me too.  Now, I can get by with just one FF for multiple boats.

Summer is coming to an end. Better hurry and find that pool noodle before they are all put away until next season.

Or go non-ghetto, and actually use minicell foam. It's actually made for outfitting kayaks. A chunk big enough for a transcucer mount would probably cost less than a pool noodle, and this stuff is the shiznit to shape and glue. And much, much tougher than open cell pool noodle foam. I'll probably get rid of my "ABS cap" tranducer mount, and go to the minicell.

Otherwise, nicely outfitted, but I'm still leery of leashing oneself to one's kayak, as I think the entrapment/strangulation/dragging hazard is just as great as the hazard from becoming separated from ones boat. But to each their own, as we all have our pet worries/fears/peeves.

Regards,
Scott
