Our offense just isn't very good right now, I hope we start playing better or it won't matter if we make it to the playoffs.

It wasn't pass interference ... it was a straight up mugging!  If you slow the video down enough you can see the gun digging into Gronk's ribs.

I blame lawyers for the pussification of the NFL.
Every single statement, rule-change, or policy is made with intent to protect the league from being liable. They should just acknowledge CTE is real and have each player sign a document acknowledging they will probably be subject to brain trauma…then make them watch Ronnie Lott highlights to get amped up. And, of course, continue developing better/safer equipment.

Btw Jim...Jabari Greer got so lucky! He should've been flagged for PI for grabbing Baldwin's shoulder pad! It was super obvious and surprising the refs didn't see it. Could you imagine if dud broke his leg AND got flagged for a 35yd penalty on 3rd down?! LOL that would suck even more...

I agree 100% PK.

There were several missed PI calls that game for sure....

You see Brooks got fined 16k for the hit on Brees??  :smt012

If the league spend days looking at pics and video frames and decides to fine the player, it is obvious is not about the individual QB, the teams, the Refs or the game...it is about what the League wants...

The game has officially changed in this and other regards...and there is nothing we can do about it besides deciding whether we want to keep watching and being fans or not...

I do wonder if Drew had got a broken neck or something if people would be looking at this differently...could have easily happened it seems...

Sincerely,

Jim

And I know folks who aren't Saints fans may disagree with this article and that's cool, but IMO Brees is as tough as they come and this article is right on the money.

I think the part that pissed off most 9er fans was the way the penalty was called...I believe the ref said something ridiculous like "illegal touching to the neck of a quarterback." I have NEVER heard of any such penalty. It was like they threw a flag because it was a violent hit...then tried to figure out which penalty to call.
PLUS...he never even touched the quarterback's neck!!!! It was double-lame with a side of weaksauce.

I can't find the picture at the moment...but there's one showing side-by-side Brooks' hit versus Hicks' sack of Kaepernick in the 2nd Qtr...and Hicks grabbed Kaep by the facemask then the neck and spun him to the ground. And he actually grabbed Kaep by the NECK. But it was not called a penalty.

Saint's fans nor niner fans are too bias to give an opinion about the call.  Even the refs will back the other refs. Damn raider niner hater fans should shut up too. :-)

I can easily do without football but I think the call was questionable.

The last play of the MNF game had a blown call where the refs missed a penalty.

Already done, sorta.  The new CBA precludes CTE and other TBI claims, not to mention the 765M clams the NFL has agreed to plop down to get rid of old claims.

But you are right PK, if you are a huge guy repeatedly running at top speed into another guy running at you at top speed, there's a fair chance someone's getting hurt sometime, somehow.  Any reasonable person knows that, probably even the athletes who attended Cal!   :smt044  http://www.sfgate.com/collegesports/article/Cal-admits-to-serious-student-athlete-flaws-4995278.php

OK.. I'm not a Saints or 9er fan so I'll chime in my 2c worth. I don't believe the neck contact was intentional. The replay appeared as though the initial contact was high across the chest but unfortunate motion of both players resulted in contact across the neck. To me that was obvious on the replay which would support why the penalty was called. There will always be give and take when it comes to good and bad calls... Now the Patriots game ending IMO was just plain wrong!!!
