Hello , due to my boat being stolen I have joined the darkside and purchased a 2013 Hobie Outback about a week ago. I have enjoyed lurking/envying  for a few years now. I know this a new a realm for me but looking forward to jump in with both feet(still tryng to figure out how to outrig my yak). Alot of information on here and thank you all for the wealth of information that is on here. I live in Fairfield,CA  if anyone wants to meet up Mondays and Wednesdays and if the moon is aligned right maybe a weekend are good for me. I m ready for my Trout mount (been waiting for a while now  :smt001)

Hey Spider,

Welcome to fun madness.  I'm looking at the 2014 Outback and hope to get it after Christmas.  Did you get the amas with yours?  I did a thread a couple of weeks ago and got a lot of info on the subject.
This is truly the best website for our hobby.  Good folks and lots of help.
When I get it, let's hook up.

stay safe,

bob

We!come to the madness.  Try your yak out just for pedaling first before you begin any rigging.  You have a very stable platform.  You won't find many here who use AMAS especially with an outback.  You can use a large Plano boat  box for a tackle box and rod carrier, it fits the OB perfectly.  There should be Picts on the site if not PM me.

Congrats on your new kayak spider. Looking forward to some fishblood on the deck. BTW, the outback is a great kayak.

Congrats on the Outback!  You won't need AMAS with the Outback unless you are drunk peddling and someone pulls you out of it.   :smt003

Welcome to NCKA & the darkside

It's not the dark side.  It's the smart side.  Just a couple of thoughts.  You have two ways of propulsion--paddles and peddles.  You could call it a water hybrid.
If you are going to fish out of it--there is no comparison.  I like slow trolling for lings with the pole in my  hand.  Nothing like feeling a hard ling takedown.

Good luck and have a blast.
