So I've tried using 3 different hand/bicycle air pumps to inflate my beach wheeleez but none of them seem to be able to grab a hold of the air valve.  The valve seems to be recessed within the wheel and I'm having a hard time getting a pump to clamp onto the valve.  Any of you guys know of a style of pump that has worked for you?

I use a $10 bicycle pump from Walmart.  I use the same pump for my wife's new Camry when warning light for low tire pressure comes on.   :smt001

I'm assuming the part that connects to the valve is very slim on your pump?  Most of what I have is the traditional bike pump style and is bulky.  Won't fit around the valve.  Will have to look further I guess.

Don't forget to use your tongue to push in the valve piece.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Does your bike pump "lock" onto the stem?  I have one for my road bike that secures to the stem.  Maybe that style would work.  All else fails .... resort to reply above  :laughing4:

I use a very small hand pump I bought at sports authority.  instead of latching onto the the valve it screws on.

It's the same type as this... http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2227719&camp=CSE:GooglePLA:2227719:2593243:OTHERSPORTS-&gsidynamic=GooglePLA-_-OTHERSPORTS-_-OTHERSPORTS-_-SKU-2593243

I've used a little electric pump, it has a hose that "clips" onto the valve stem. It was tough to get it to grab the wheeleze stem.

From blowing to screwing ....

I believe you are correct that the screw-on kind works best since I think the valve stem is the same thread as a sports ball needle

mine works perfectly.  It costed about $5 and because it's so small it help to ensure that I don't over fill the tires.

Yes, that type of pump would work!  Just need to look around my local stores and find one that has a hose with screw-on style like that.  Thanks Pacifico!

And Bill/Scott, I gave it some tongue but it just wasn't having it.   :smt044

Any sporting good store that sells athletic balls i.e. basketballs, soccer balls volleyballs, etc. will carry the pump included in Angel's link.  Dick's Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, Sports Chalet, Big 5 and the list goes on.

As for me ... Ssssshhhh, I just take the air compressor and tap it against the valve so as to not overfill it.  Super worried the first time, now I've done it a half dozen times and no issues so far.

Thanks Michael.  I think I may have been looking in the wrong section.  I've been checking out the section of stores where the bicycles are and they have the standard bicycle tire pumps.  I should go check where the they have athletic balls.

Problem solved...thanks everyone!
