You know I'll get a report up, Kevin.  My daughter's excited to do the midnight run at Crab Park.  Hopefully we'll get some!   :smt001

Didn't went out on water, went to pacifica pier, omg lots of ppl and hard to get a spot, just like a fish market but without any fish. Saw 1 pull in for like an hour. Switched location, my buddy didn't got anything, and I pull in 2 females sadly :( but they look very healthy and will make a lot of crabies for the coming years

Baker Beach Crab Derby was an incredible success.  I caught my first crabs thanks to the generosity of the organizers; HapaIK, Sandlance, and a few others.  I will post an official report tomorrow if someone else doesn't beat me to it. Thank you Guys!!!

Crab feeding pattern is more correlated with the tides, lobster on the other hand come out at night.

I'm a newbie,  how is crabbing related to the tides;  more feeding on a rising tide?  More feeding with bigger swings?

Thanks
Mark

When crabbing in deeper water or soaking for longer than 6 hours tides are not as important. When crabbing in shallow water or less than 6 hours, tides are important, particularly for shore fishermen.

"The best time of the day to catch Dungeness Crab is during the incoming tide.  This tide doesn’t flow as hard as the outgoing tide and it’s easier for the crabs to walk around without fighting heavy current or getting washed away.  The incoming tide also has a higher salinity so it is more comfortable for them."
