Any other Off Road racing fans out there? 17 days till the baja mil. Going to be a brutal race this year. The first mil with Roger Norman as owner of SCORE and he's making it a good one. Lots of new course, lots of old course that hasn't been raced on in years. No pre running the start and only a few short weeks to pre run the rest.

You know it.  Just did a riding class with former overall Baja 1000 winner Jimmy Lewis. A killer trip would be to load up the yaks and fish down to cabo and check out the finish and festivities.

That little prerrunning folks better be on top of their navigation game, and beware the crowds gathered in the middle of nowhere. Usually means trouble.

Course maps

11 PM start after doing tech all day, brutal. Definately some gnarly sections for guys running at night, some serious potential for 4 wheeled bottlenecks as well.

The 11pm start for the bikes is awesome. On an 800 mile course the bikes will need every bit of that head start. It used to be bikes start at 6 cars at 11 and the lead trophy trucks would catch the slower bikes by RM 200. Nothing will make you pucker up faster than an 800hp truck passing you at 60mph with only inches to spare. Especially cus you never hear the first one, its just there then your in a dust cloud for the rest of the day. I'm a big fan of the qualifying too, another new aspect to baja races.

Anyone keeping up?  Seems the  start went off without a hitch and the lead group of motorcycles got a good bit of distance between the main pack. Honda, ktm and kawi all close for most of the race. Honda destroyed a wheel somewhere around 800, the ktm was right behind but the apparantly maechanical issues knocked it out of the race rm796 (rumor is engine blew). Looks like honda might get another baja under their belt, but still lots of race left.

I've been following it on Racedezert.com, Score-off road.com and Dirtnewz.com. The 1x bike (JCR Honda) took first in the bikes with a time of 18hrs and 12min. The Ktm 2x team was back and forth with them all day and leading till right before the Finnish. The 2x bike went down and rider was medevaked to Ensenada for head injuries. The cars won't Finnish till around 3am. Currently Brice Menzes leads with Rob Macrachran a little ways behind them. Good race

Honda finishes at 5:30, another baja 1000 win for honda.
Kurt Casseli with serious head injury was rider medivaced out. The lead motos were tight most of the day, definately good race. I might just half to hit the dunes after followin this all day.

JCR Honda at the finish

From contingency yesterday. This guy is crazy. Always fun to watch at the short course races. This is his short course truck not his trophy truck that he's racing today.
