In my opinion....That looks like a Necky Dolphin--great surfing and light touring open-deck kayak because it is easy to edge. Not great for fishing though: hatches are small and hard to get into (there are neoprene covers under the plastic covers on the hatches). I fished on in lakes (Crowley and O'Neil Forebay) and it was fine. I would not take it in the ocean if I needed to store anything in the hatches--very hard to get open and closed while on the water.

This looks like the same yak that flipped at the Oyster Pt. Derby.
I know it's the exact same make and model, might be the same owner; I remember the white poles he was fishing with and he lost one when he flipped. I totally forgot his name.

I don't know much about yaks, but it looks good.

Dolphins have a very rounded profile--little chine. That's why they are great eding boats for surfing but that also makes them 'tippy' and that is not what you want for Bay and Ocean. Great in a lake though. I'll be that's why he flipped--in the Bay no less.
