Planing on launching out of Martinez early not sure on the time exactly depends on what time the bait shop opens . Going for sturgeon the more the better  !
May your catch be plentiful.

That's a LONG paddle. Don't rule out Ozol pier area when launching from Martinez. Protected from the wind and a known sturgeon  holding area.

Have u ever tried launching from under neath the bridge? Ive fished there from the shore and it looks doable. That would be from the vallejo side of the bridge.

Some words of advice from the expereince....BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL OUT THERE IF YOUR LAUNCHING ANYWHERE IN THAT AREA..THOSE CURRENTS RIP OUT THERE AND ARE HONESTLY NOT FOR ANY ROOKIES..You better be experience with anchoring off of a yak and make sure you have a quick release setup..I know the sand bar your talking about and you should be fine there with about 40ft of rope but anywhere else, especially the Ozol, which is like 65ft plus in that area, your gonna need a ton of rope, like 100ft..my advice for fishing out there in a yak would be to stay within 35ftof water or shallow..Ive fished out there many times in a boat and once in my yak. Wind waves out there could be narly especially mixed with current..When i fished the fleet in my yak, I launched right under the benicia bridge..I forget the rd. to get there but google it and u should find it. As far as the launch there, its doable, but be very careful on low tide..those rocks are super slippery! Better to launch on the High. I parked in the that parking lot about 50+ yards away from the launch. Im not gonna lie, it looked and felt sketchy but that could be anywhere. Definetly fishy out there and theres a good striper bite out there too right now..Just make sure you and your setup is prepared. Wear your pfd and keep a knife close by just in case u need to cut rope. Wish I can join yall, Goodluck.

Chuwy, I will be hitting u up soon on some sturgeon trips bro.

Thank you for the concern I've fished in those straits more than anywhere in my yak lol crazy I know! But I always use my pfd ,I have a 100ft rope on my anchor I've been out there and have waited out the current I could hear It rippin by my yak defiantly a place that deserves a lot  of respect  I'm really eager to meet some of you guys and hope I can get a few to join us , it's usually just me and my dad .

Ozol is west and "downriver" from the Martinez marina almost down to Port Costa. Fairly sheltered from the wind but will have plenty of current.

I had always been curious about that straight that runs through Vallejo/Crockett.... especially during the salmon run... sounds pretty hairy. Also - have seen you-tube vids of folks doing the same and making a run through the golden gate from the Fort in Sausalito... have wanted to fish & crab the Marin headlands close to shore, has anyone done that, and is that channel just as crazy?! Thanks...
