Team Mooch Strong!!

My wife and several good friends of ours ran the Nike SF Womens Half Marathon Sunday in honor and memory of Joel...

We had planned to do this race and have Joel be there to cheer us on...but he is in a better place now.

I sent my team mates pics and stories of Joel every day since he passed so they could get to know him better...and we all felt his love on Sunday. 

Even though none of us trained very much we all had great races!!   

I ran with Juan, a member of the original Team Mooch 3 years ago, for the first 13 miles then he kept going and did 13 more!!

One of the coolest parts of my race was while I was running I hear "Team Mooch! Go Team Mooch!!" I look over and I see my firefighter buddy Willy Varona (starlifter on here) driving a SF Fire Truck a block away!! I guess he was responding to an alarm at one of the piers and out of the thousands of runners he saw me!! I ran over and gave him a big hug. 

Then at about mile 10 I hear "Big Jim!! Big F*cking Jim!!" and I look over and there is my buddy Lorenzo!! Gave him a big hug and as I run off he's yelling "Mooch Strong!!!!"

I finished in just under 2.5 hours...for not training, and for the hilly and challenging course I am really stoked on this time!! I felt Moochie up there cheering me on for sure!! 

My wife Ana had a great race and crossed the finish line hand in hand with our friend Jackie who came to the last PIF and got to meet Joel...they both had tears streaming down their face as they crossed the finish line thinking about Joel.
