Been AB diving a few times with my grandpa and loved it  (other then getting sea sick and not getting my first AB yet ) but i dont have my own wet suit. Been borrowing extra one he has and a little tight so uncomfortable in water. its 2 piece 7mil. Plenty warm though!. Whats a good wet suit you guys recommend. would prefer suit instead of 2 piece and if i could even get away with 5 mil and stay warm enough.Diving northern coast mostly. im 5'9 190.

I would recommend renting until you get serious about diving.  Then you can buy what YOU like.  What ever you get, rental or otherwise, just make sure it fits right.

The farmer john is ideal for kayaking with dry top/ splash jacket and always have the option to put on the wet suit jacket for diving.
look around, if you know what size you need buy a used one.

Fit is the key! If you like diving as much as some of us do, spending up to 3-4 hrs in the water, you may want to consider the 7mm.
2 pc freedive suits eliminate uncomfortable zippers!
Try a few on before you buy.

If you have an "odd bod" like me that seems to be in between sizes, you should get a custom wetsuit. I got mine from Oceanos which is shockingly affordable even with shipping from Greece to the U.S.. the cheapest I've found

+1 to everyone else's comments. I'd stick to a 7mm if you're planning on using it up here more often than warmer waters

Going to dive fisk mill tomorrow. See how it goes. Yeah I have to get fitted for correct suit. Suit I am borrowing is I believe XL and 2 piece 7mil. although it keeps me warm enough it is kind of restrictive. does the job till I get fitted and def going to go used first. What is good to take to prevent getting sea sick?

Bonine for the seasickness.  One pill this afternoon, half tab in the morning.

Wetsuits....dont waste your time or money on a used scuba wetsuit, it'd be like throwing money down the drain.  I got sticker shock the first time I seen a price tag on a real open cell freedive suit but, in retrospect, it was the best spearing purchase I made.  If a propper suit isn't in your budget, keep saving, you'll be glad you did.

How much a good suit go for? I really wanna try spear fishing too. Can't get enough of the ocean  :smt007. Went last month of fisk mill and got sea sick right when I got out there. Not fun! Especially being tossrd around by waves going in and out.

7 mil might be restrictive when your ab diving, but when youre spearfishing and not moving as much the extra warmth will keep you more comfortable and diving longer. I dive in a 5mil and get cold after 2-3 hrs. It's nice for quick ab dives but I'd go 7 mil if I were you.

If you're using an old scuba suit for freediving I could understand it being restrictive, the older type of neoprene is crazy stiff, on the plus side it's pretty durable and lasts a long time, if you get a newer open cell suit, flexibility shouldn't be a problem even with a 7mm two piece.

+1.

I have a 7mm 2 piece freedive suit and it is crazy flexible.  :smt001

7mm is the way to go. You don't want to have all day to dive in awesome conditions and have to get out early cuz you're cold in the 5mm.

Freedive suits are nice and stretchy and much warmer than scuba wetsuits.  I used to dive a one-piece scuba suit (detached hood) and it was horribly restrictive.
I recommend going with a 2 piece suit for a few reasons.
1) it's easier to put on.
2) you can customize the dimensions.  If you're a medium lower body and a large upper body you can mix-and-match the pant and jacket to get the right fit.
3) When you're paddling on the kayak you can go without the jacket.

I couldn't afford any of the suits from the freedive shop, so I had to go out-of-country on mine.  I bought the Imersion Seriole in camo brown.  I love that suit.  It ships from France, so the shipping is about $50, but even so I got the suit brand new for about $200 including shipping, and it's a high quality suit.  I'll post a couple links.

The only knock I have on the suit is that the beaver tail is short.  I ended up extending it with a spare piece of neoprene and a set of toggles that customer service was nice enough to mail to me.
