I'm looking forward to the opening of Crab Season!  One question - other than the amount of traps you can safely stack on a Kayak, is there a CA DFW regulation on the number of crab traps one person can drop at one time? I looked in the regs and only found a limit on commercial vessels (60 traps).  Thanks for the input...

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I don't believe there is a limit on traps.  However, there is a limit of 5 on "hoop nets".

It's perfectly acceptable to actually read the regs.   :smt002

You're right.  The hoop net restrictions (limit 5) I was referring to are south of Point Arguello.

Yes, that gear restriction is for areas South of Point Arguello. 5 hoop nets per person, 10 hoop nets per boat.

The regulations are on page 50 of the 2013-2014 Ocean Sport Fishing Regulations:

I role with 5 promar ambush hoops. Good for bugs down south and crabs up north. Works well with long or short soaks. Although not collapsable, they stack OK and easy to clean out the shorts. You can use more than 5 up north but then you are adding more bait and rigging costs. If 5 pots/hoops can't get the job done on a 3 hour+ soak, then conditions are not good. If I am surf launching, I use three 102's.

I mentioned in my original post that I did read the regs.  They were not specific, which is why I asked the question.  I guess if no specific restriction then go for it!
