I use the Berkley submersible. Nice green light. Takes 3 AA batteries. Costs about 20 dollars. I use it for crappie and cats. It floats out of the box but you can add some weight to put it down where you want it.

Depends on what you use it for.  I've used mine couple of times on the water mainly for slow drifting/paddle with minnows.  It's great if you want to anchor for small fish but for slow drift/paddle I would get a size smaller.  For that you just need enough light to silhouette your live bait/lure.

The 24 inch is what I would recommend for a yak and you can still get away with the 12 inch for striper.  I have used my 48 incher along with the big 48 lbs battery and it seem like the stripers didn't like the light that well as when fishing with Steve (http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=42653.msg468289#msg468289) the Stripers were liking his bait more.  His rod would be no closer then 8-10 ft away from my yak.  Either way the stripers I'd caught durring most nights came mostly off the bottom water column.  Hope this gives you an idea.

There you go.  Just use the weight of the glow stick to keep your bait down.

Fairly sure glow sticks float though

I got one at Glory Hole Sports by New Melones.  Think it's 18 or 24", got it for like $40 bucks, even though I had seen ones for 30$ I think at Cabelas, they had reviews that cautioned about leaks and having to reinforce the seals.  The thing worked like a charm with a normal SLA 7AH battery, for the 4-5 hours I used it.  Caught my first ever crappie using the thing too! Really really cool looking when you send it down and light up all the water around you!

And, just like some YouTube video's I had watched, bait fish were swarming, and you could see bigger fish darting in and out of the balls of bait.  You need to add 10-16oz of weight to get the sucker to go down too btw. I dont think that glowsticks will have anywhere near the effect of the light.
