I know there are a lot of opinions on this but which is better for saltwater fishing. shoot through hull or mounted in scupper hole? I don't really mind about temp readings. Does lowrance make a scupper transducer mount? If so can I send in transducer and get correct one like hummingbird does??

Lastly, How many amps does mark 4 pull? Would 1.2Ah/20HR) work or too small?

Thanks all

ID suggest at least a 6Ah battery.  Good for a full day fishing.

Lowrance makes a scupper transducer mount that works with their transom transducer that came with the unit.

Would it be worth the $ or just mount one it came with in the hull?

It would use the same transducer that came with the unit.  The 'Lowrance Scupper Mount' is about $40 & looks like the picture below ..... which isn't a good image of how it installs.

Depending if your scupper holes have a recess or not, it may/may not stick out.  Didn't say it was THE solution ... just a solution  :smt002

Honestly, I prefer the water bath method & it's fairly easy to do.

Here you go. Works great for me.  Instead of electric putty I gooped a piece of foam shaped to my transducer inside the hull.  You need to put some water every time you use it.  Super easy to do and inexpensive.  I have a Lowrance Elite 5.

Looks like the same way I did mine.  Opening in the foam is slightly smaller than the transducer.  Installed the foam with GOOP (make sure the entire surface is coated to prevent the water from leaking out between the foam & the hull).  Weighted it down for 48 hours to full cure.  Install a little water & press the transducer into the opening.  Add fish to taste.

So all you got to do is make a water tight hole and add water then transducer? so then transducer can be removed when needed? Sounds better than through scupper. I am going to try with goop and foam as you mentioned you do Bill.

I did a water bath also but  did mine a little different. I purchased the putty and one of the cheap plastic paint buckets that hold bout a quart of liquid.  I cut the bottom off the bucket. I put about a quarter inch thick ring of the putty around the top rim of the paint bucket. I placed it in the hull where I wanted then pushed down and made sure it was sealed tight.

I used the bucket because it allows for more sloshing around and allows for more water to fill the water bath. I didn't like how warm the water got when the quantity of water was very low.

do you get a decent heat transfer thru the hull for water temp readings with the water bath method?

I used the Lowrance scupper mount on my T13 for mine. Eric gave me a Lowrance trans that had the mount cut off and a hole drilled in the top. I threaded this hole for the Lowrance rod and mounted it up proper like in the scupper recess. It does not stick out past the hull this way like a stock Lowrance trans does.

I think there is a couple degree variant in temp readings.  It get's better as the hull aclimates to the water temp.

Hey Mike,

Can you post up a couple picts of that setup you have for your T13? I'm really interested to see this mod. Thanks, Mike.
