I work only a few blocks from the river access here and it looks like getting a kayak down to the water would be no issue.  Are there any holes in the river near here that hold fish (salmon for now)?  I am new to the river and don't know it to well.  I've been out to Howe a few times with nada to show for it and this is so close to work I figured it may be worth a shot.  Thanks for any help you can give.

I am new to the river too, has been fishing for salmon from shore right beneath the dam the pass 2 weeks.
however I did read a lot about the river,

1st thing make sure you read the fish and game booklet first, you dont want to get any tickets for a salmon.
some area only allow you to use barbless hooks, and I believe for night fishing you are only allow to fish from the east side of business 80

2nd for location I think asking the locals are the best, or look up on satellite map from Google you can usually tell if the water is deep or sallow by the color.

3rd for bait I think salmon roe is very effective if you want to go for bait fishing, trolling salmon lure in the morning, also hear about jigging squid like lures.

best luck on the water hope this helps and would love to see you on the river someday.
