ruben,
Are tandem's allowed?
thanks

Tandems are ok if you are both competing but you'll have to agree to not fish while one of you paddles. In other words you can't use your partner as a propulsion system.

Too bad I only have Hobies.  Sold my OK T13 last year and miss it dearly.

I have T-13 and a Scupper Pro that I'll loan out.
PecaDono has a Scrambler. And I'm sure others will offer more.

Don't be a party pooper this is gonna be fun!

Sounds like fun Ruben!
I gotta plug for the Revo and it paddles just fine.
What if I want this to be my first attempt at salt/flyfishing from the yak, will I be able to use 3 of my choice of flys?
Still, gotta check the schedule, but a very tempting format. :smt001

Tony,

I love the fly fishing idea but I really want everybody on the same playing field. We'll do that another time, promise.

If I go, which I don't thinki can at this point, I can bring 3 extra paddle yaks. I will know at least a week before. It is the same weekend as Jim's Amador tourney too.

Oh, dammit! I thought I picked a weekend that didn't conflict. Oh well, Sorry Jim :(

Thanks for the offer of the yaks and paddles. Rob. Hope you can make it.

so the advantage goes to the person who knows the structure in the designated area.
Interesting but remember, that if you are not familiar with the area, that there are areas that are restricted in the Sonoma coast.
What about cell phone GPS?
I have only fish there once and don't know the structure or where the restricted areas (MPA's) are located so i need to make myself more familiar with the Coast.
maybe next time.
Have fun guys, it sounds great.

I've been fishing the Sonoma coast for 11 years from my yak and without a FF there's no way I could find a particular piece of structure. Also, I won two tourneys prior to installing my FF, and zero since. Lastly, there are no MPAs within a reasonable distance from any of the popular SoCo launches.

You're fresh outta excuses, Luis!  :smt044

Cool to see this is gonna happen. Because this type of tourney format has been discussed many times before...but never materialized. So thanks for stepping up, Ruben!  And I'll actually get to go since soccer season ends Nov 3 woohoo! Although I'm not sure if this type of format would require more skill or luck to win but I'm down either way.

I love the idea. Count me in. We don't need no stinking GPS..…until that fog rolls in :)

All of the other tourneys seem impossible for a newb like me, but this one sounds awesome.

One question:
I have never fished that area, but am interested in this format. Where should I get a campsite if the location is TBD?

I am good at "luck", not so good at fishing. I have a shot!

Thanks!
1st Place in a private tournament I did not invite anyone else to be in. (and I barely squeaked out a victory)

You can camp at Timber Cove, Ocean Cove, or Salt Point SP. All are within a few minutes of any SoCo launch.
