Uggh ... spoke too soon.  I came in this morning to find out the trip got cancelled.  I'm back "on" for the weekend.  So is anyone going anywhere?  San Luis stripers?  HMB perch?  Del Valle trout?

It all hinges on Joel's HMB perch report.

Are the trout biting at Del Valle?

ey fellas...I think Del Valle on Saturday would be a better bet...FISH are ALWAYS bitting in Del Valle.

On Sunday - I can do the HMB perch or fish the Bay for Sturgeon.

watcha think?

I will find out tonight if the perch are hanging around the main launch ramp / docks.

As far as Del Valle - I know a few productive spots.........for a sick pack of coca cola.....

OK.  Del Valle Saturday.  Sounds like a plan to me.  What time?  Hopefully not too early as I am way short on sleep these days.  And what do I need?  It's been awhile since I've been trout fishing.

I have only been there once and caught no fish so...

I think most people use broken back rapalas #7. When I was there we trolled them around. I don't plan of paddling the length of the lake again! Another technique that Ken likes to use is an earthworm with a flasher. I might dig up some worms from my backyard.

the top one is what I use.....I\'ve caught small mouth, Large mouth, Big blue Gill, catfish and trout on this lure.
The park opens at 6AM = I\'ll be there by then. VHF channel 69.

I\'ll bring night crawlers as well and maybe some power bait - great for drifting.

Allen - hope you have a VHF so we can get in touch if you decide to get there later. I\'m not sure if cell phones work on the lake.

Bill....I still don\'t have the emoticons....

I\'ll send you a screen shot.

Kumusta Joel,  which rapala were you trying to link too?  I will NOT be there anywhere close to as early as you.   My eyes will be shut and I will be dreaming about the big one.  Hopefully I'll have a VHF handy when I show up.  My parents were kind enough to get me one for my brithday ... of course that means that I need to go buy it and they'll send a check!  And I haven't bought it yet.  The birthday gods were kind to me this year ... VHF from mom and dad, GPS from girlfriend.  Something about them wanting me to be safer on the water!   I guess a fish finder didn't fit that bill ... perhaps for xmas.
