Has anyone fish out of Benicia from a kayak yet? I want to fish this weekend but not sure if anyone is catching salmon or stripers trolling. Where do you launch from and how far is the fishing grounds? Any info will help.

Thanks !!  :smt003

I usually hit the 9th st boat launch and make my way out to the green can and on to Dillon point (tower).  I usually read reports from usafishing for hints/clues as for what's biting and on what.  Stripers and salmon if you're lucky.  Good luck out there!

I have also only seen a couple kayakers trolling.. some just  paddle out just out of reach of the shore guys and cast their lures.. launching at benicia boat ramp is the closest area to launch point...only seen one boat hook up so it is possible

I fish at Eckley a few times (across the straight towards Crockett) and catch tons of stripers trolling white or pearl big hammers although most are shakers.  I go over to Benicia some times and never seen a hook up but a buddy of mine who fishes there showed me his huge salmon caught off a chartreuse spinner about 2 weeks ago.  Not sure if they're still biting.
