Fished Fort Ross on Saturday with Bob, Troy, and a few others who rarely post here, but follow the boards. Bob and I headed SW at first paddling right out near the pinnacles, looking for the reef out there. With neither of us having FF's we spent A LOT of time bouncing in sand looking for structure. The water was very murky and there was TONS of bait out there. It was pretty spooky...especially when Troy radioed me and told me he saw the landlord! Anyway, we made a few long drifts from south of the cove to just past the cove for nothing. Only a few missed bites, so we decided to head north where Troy and some of the other fellas ended up. We found some decent structure, a few fish, and A LOT of snags because of the increasing drift speed due to the wind picking up. We called it a day around 1:00PM. I landed ONE measly 14" copper and Bob pulled up a small copper and a small vermillion. Troy stuck it out for about an hour longer than us and managed a last minute score of 8 or 9 assorted rockfish.
