Fishing Peeing Flipping Fishing

Just starting to get into kayak fishing, went with a guide out of Santa Cruz (with Travis and Joe of Kayak Connection, awesome dudes!) and I have to take a leak. I lay on my back, turn to my left side, unzip, and let it rip. I felt relatively stable while doing my thing and just as I finish, a swell lifts the right side of the kayak up just enough to dump me and flip the kayak!! What made it worse was that I fell into my own pee puddle, hah!! Anyhow, I flip the kayak right side up and climb back on, expecting my poles and gear to be gone. Everything is still there except a pair of pliers (sorry Travis) and a cheap dive knife. Travis paddles over to help grab my paddle and water bottle and Joe nets up my burlap sack and a black rockfish that fell out. Back to fishing. Caught 7 rock fish for the day and had a great time, looking forward to going again!!

TL/DR - Fell into my own pee puddle, caught some fish.

   Sorry that happen to you on your first time out.  Glad you had a great time and caught some fish.  I think you need some more practice peeing from your kayak.

My go to is the "sideways fountain of joy". Not reclining too far.

+100. I wouldn't worry too much about piss on your yak or clothing. The sideway technique sounds like extra work.

I usually kneel then pee, I just paddled away from everyone....congrats on the catches btw

I've thought about that a lot. It's kind of like the self rescue thing, you need to practice.

This guy has it down. It might be better for you younger guys who still have the needed pressure?

I usually cut the top off the plastic water bottle i have. Drank.i have to fill it several times though. Lol

Golden rainbow is a fancy name for my method.

Golden rainbow all the way.  If you don't have the pressure to clear the boat, you can use the paddle blade.

 
  Haha.... You'll figure out a less wet way with practice. For me the drive well in my OB serves a dual purpose!
