As much as I love my Trident 13, I can not safely stand up in to cast my fly rod, let alone stand up to just look around.  Which kayak make should I be looking at that will allow me to stand up and fly cast?  And if possible be able to do it in a kayak that doesn't weight a ton and still has hatch space like my Trident.  And I want to keep it to a standard kayak shape, by that I mean not like the Santa Cruz kayaks or the ones where the back end splits open into tow separate sections.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Take a look at the Old Town Predator.

I fly fish out of a Jackson cuda 14. It's made to allow you to stand but it takes some practice and getting use to it. I have actually found that if I put the seat in the 'high' position, I can cast very comfortably while seated. I have a 'hip shooting' stripping basket that I loop over one of the straps on the side of the seat, which puts it in a perfect spot for stripping line.

I'm still pretty new to the kayak scene, but have been fly fishing all my life. Have seen some of your posts on DB's -- would be great to hook up sometime.

You might want to look at the Wavewalk 500. Being an ex bass boat owner (pre kids) I got accustomed to standing while fishing and now I still feel the need to do so. Especially when im pitching and flipping the delta it makes it alot easier to find the holes in the deep recesses of the tullies. I'm in the Elk Grove area and if you are not to far away and would like to test drive mine you are more then welcome to.

Scott when I receive mine you can try it out if you want. Super stable and has the trident hatch space (Predator 13) that you're looking for.

To be clear on the hatch, the hatch itself is smaller (I think from the Tetra's) and I think the inside is shallower (I haven't measured, just seems like it).  But take a look yourself and see if it meets your needs.

They will have the Predator for demo at Big Break Adventure Sports. This is a dream to stand in. Yes the hatch is from the Tetra series. Not as deep as the Trident series. Tons of deck space and the seat is a dream.

A hobie AI would allow you to stand up and cast...and it doesn't weigh nearly a ton, its like 150lbs geared up, so that's still 1850lbs away.  or a PA12!

also look at the jackson coosa, very stable for standing and casting, and multiple water types, also the jackson kilroy, its a sit in hybrid, pretty much designed with the flyfisher in mind, very line friendly and made to stand in and flycast, but it is mainly a flat water boat and smaller flow rivers, not ocean, im perty sure dan at headwaters has them both to try and windtoys in santa rosa has the cudas and kilroy to try, cameron

I own the OK Trident15 and although I can stand in it, its not comfortable to stand in. Its stable, but its not comfortable. The footwell is too narrow. The Jackson SUPs look awesome.
