I totally spaced this when making halibut plans this weekend in Trinidad. I may get down there Sunday, but it sounds like most may be leaving.  I heard a couple of 30lb salmon were caught there today.

***Mooching seems to be the ticket in Shelter Cove***

It looks like we have a big crew going for halibut.  It should be interesting.  A group photo with big butts from kayaks on Trinidad beach with some salmon mixed in will be kick ass.  So far we have me, Salty, Tigerfish, Enlongatus, 2 LCKA members and maybe a couple more.  This will be the first time I have had company out there since Sledge tagged along.   :smt001  Its an 1.5-2hr paddle one way  :smt003  Should be a good report with GoPro footage.
Speaking of, I will try and get my halibut footage up by tomorrow.

I'm heading out now and will try to get some info on the body and post it up from my phone this evening.  Hopefully I'll be out at the Whistle in about 2.5 hours.   :smt001

I fished Trinadad today, Friday. No salmon. The last good salmon bite there was last week. I'm headed for shelter Cove.

The more salmon-savvy guys ought to chime in, but from what I saw over the weekend: salmon bite is "on" one day, and "spotty" the next.  Guys hammered the salmon mooching just inside the Whistle along the kelp on Friday.  On Saturday the mooching bite was a little tougher but the trolling improved for some.

From my own experience on the water over the weekend, the bottomfishing is stellar  :smt007.

Eric and I just missed the hot bite on Friday. However, we were treated to a great sunset. I think he's got some photos.
Saturday was slow for most, I got lucky and had my limit by noon.
On Sunday I spent 11 hours on the water mooching/trolling for salmon. I had one hook up and half a dozen bites., But that was it.
The locals including some commercial guys have been mooching at the kelp bed halfway between the whistle and the lighthouse. It was just turning on for them around noon today, when I had to leave.

Beauties, Don!  Great to see you, and was stoked that you hammered out that limit on a tough bite.  WTG.   :smt001
